Kochi: bigbasket, India’s largest online supermarket, has launched its services in Kochi, Kerala. Customers can now shop online through the bigbasket app or website from the largest assortment of 22,000-plus products and 3,000-plus brands and have them delivered at their doorstep. This includes everything from fresh fruits, vegetables, grocery and cosmetics, amongst other things. With its foray into Kochi, bigbasket now has a presence in 26 cities in India.

Hari Menon, CEO and Co-Founder, bigbasket, said, “Kochi is a high-growth market for bigbasket and we are excited to launch our services in the city. Customers will now be able to buy daily essentials from bigbasket at the click of a button. They will also be able to get the freshest produce of fruits and vegetables given that we source directly from farmers under our Farmers Connect programme. With the recent funding, bigbasket has become the latest entrant to India’s unicorn club. The grocery major aims to double its revenue by Rs. 7000 crore in FY20. It expects 40 per cent of its projected revenue to come from private labels, which currently stands at 34 per cent.

bigbasket was founded in December 2011 in Bengaluru by a team of five – V S Sudhakar, Hari Menon, Vipul Parekh, V S Ramesh and Abhinay Choudhari.
