Thiruvananthapuram: For a young startup, i-Boson Innovations (Innovative Brilliant Optimistic Strategic Organised Neoteric) is already going places. A startup that has focused on delivering products and solutions based on Augmented Reality, i-Boson had displayed their nascent product Le Futura at Dublin Tech Summit 2017 and was identified as the top 25 futuristic startups by the Irish press. It was their Augmented Reality solution that Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala used to inaugurate the new Integrated Startup Complex in Kochi earlier this year. i-Boson has also been selected by the UK government for their Global Entrepreneur Program.
The startup has garnered attention at international events, creating a niche for themselves
through products like UniteAR and introducing the technology to new audiences
Like all entrepreneurs testing the waters, i-Boson too had an eye on the latest trends in the market and assessed the success of their predecessors. Supported by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), i-Boson was intent on making it big where many had failed. “There are other companies that specialise in AR products, but what makes ours stand out is the quality. We have our own computer vision technology to bring scalability to the product. Also, there is no limit to the type of content that can be uploaded on the site. It can be of any format. i-Boson also does not have hidden charges. Unlike counterparts in the field, ours does not have a complex pricing system,” said Vishnu JP, co-founder of i-Boson.
“We were able to launch the product as the AR SaaS platform that resolved all the drawbacks of competitors, and as a solution to the issues pertaining to the industries of real estate, education and marketing,” remarked Vishnu. i-Boson’s AR-based products are used in areas like branding, marketing and real estate. Without depending on a third party, its products are all custom solutions which are scalable.
A graduate in Aircraft Engineering Maintenance, Vishnu along with Vineetha A, founded i-Boson in August 2016. Their computer vision driven AR platform UniteAR was launched in November 2017. The firm currently has a team of 14 members. UniteAR is the world’s first democratised AR SaaS platform, making AR accessible to all kinds of customers. It possesses a high level of device compatibility and supports all types of content like 3D models, video, images and gif animations.
Customers need to register on the website www.unitear.com, to start their first campaign by uploading a target image. Once the image has been uploaded, the user can upload contents of his/her choice. The process only takes minutes. The UniteAR App needs to be scanned over the target image to experience the AR which has been created.
“Custom social media buttons are also available which the client can drag-drop to connect with their social media pages. Call and email buttons are also available. An advanced analytics platform will be provided for B2B customers to analyse and predict the performance of their AR campaigns,” added Vishnu.
UniteAR currently has 2500-plus active users for the premium packages. A full-fledged version of the product was launched in early February, 2019. The R&D process behind the product began in November 2017 and the beta version was released in November 2018. According to Vishnu, there are many hurdles to overcome as people are not yet aware of the potential AR offers. i-Boson often creates that awareness. AR finds the most number of takers in the US and Europe markets. Reaching out is also a challenge. In the future, iBoson aims to explore those untapped opportunities in various realms like education, healthcare, automotive, transportation and media.
