Kerala got a shot in the arm for its efforts to nurture a vibrant startup ecosystem of innovators and entrepreneurs, with the Government of India lauding its initiatives in a nationwide ranking of states’ performance in the field. Kudos to Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), the nodal agency for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the State, for helping us bag the honour of ‘Top Performer’ in the annual States’ Startup Ranking 2018 exercise held in New Delhi recently. Close on the heels of this mega achievement, Kerala also launched India’s largest startup hub in Kochi. As Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has rightly mentioned during the inaugural ceremony of the Integrated Startup Complex, Kerala is all set to become one of the biggest IT hubs in the world.

As you may be aware, global technology companies are looking forward to the Mobile World Congress 2019 – the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry, incorporating thought-leadership conferences featuring prominent executives who represent mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world – to be held in Barcelona from February 25 to 28. It would be a great opportunity for mobile technology companies and startups in Kerala as well. I must appreciate Cyberpark Kozhikode and the IAMAI Mobile10X Calicut Hub for organising a session on Opportunities for Indian Startups at MWC’19 in a bid to encourage techies based out of the State.

While on this, please join in me in wishing all the best to Cyberia Softwares, a mobile application and web development company, which has opened their new office on the second floor of the Nila building at Technopark. Also, let’s welcome BestDoc Technology, which has opened office at Smart Business Centre at Thapasya, Infopark.

It’s really heartening to notice that techies are still actively involved in activities aimed at supporting #RebuildKerala initiative. I congratulate members of Natana and GTech, who have taken the lead in reconditioning the boats of fishermen of Alappad, which were damaged while undertaking rescue operations during the devastating floods that hit the State in August 2018. Also, hats off to members of Infopark-based Voice of Techies (VoT) group, who have celebrated New Year with the inmates of Poornathrayeesan Balasramam, an orphanage in Tripunithura. Certainly, an inspiring act of generosity and kindness which all of us can emulate!
