Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala-based women-led venture ‘I love 9 Months’, incubated by the Kerala Startup Mission, has set up a Lactation Pod at Technopark here. The lactation pod named ‘Domatio’ will enable working mothers to pump and store breast milk for later use.
The facility, set up on the ground floor of Thejaswani block at Technopark, was inaugurated by Dr. Saji Gopinath, CEO KSUM, and Tina James, President e-Wit Technologies.
The state-of-the art facility, ‘Domatio’, which comes as a trail-blazer in mother and child care in the country, can be used by used by all Technopark-based mothers free of cost, to start with. World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends exclusive breast feeding for the first six months and complementary breastfeeding till two years for the best possible infant health outcomes.
“It is important to have such a facility in all our work environments. Kerala Startup Mission is proud that I Love 9 Months has come forward to do it. We hope that this model would be emulated in all work places. Also, I think the facility should be there in all IT parks in Kerala,” said Dr. Saji Gopinath.
Taking due care of the safety and privacy of mothers, its salient features include a two-way locked 8.ft. X 4.ft. private room, comfortable chairs with footstool for relaxed pumping and clean and state of the art breast pump.
It will also provide emotional and information support for mothers. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has identified breast-feeding friendly work place policy a critical component in mother and child wellness.
“We believe no child of a working woman should be deprived of breast milk. Let us make workplaces more breastfeeding friendly leading to happy and engaged employee,” said Suma Ajith, Co-founder & Director-Operations, I Love 9 Months.

‘I Love 9 Months,’ is a maternity wellness Start-up incubated by Kerala Start-up Mission. It is co-founded by three women entrepreneurs, Ganga Raj, Anjali Raj and Suma Ajith. The company works to providing products and services that help improve maternal and infant outcomes, and was selected the best startup in wellness sector in India-Israel Innovation Challenge.
The startup has earlier launched a service called ’Sahodari’, to assist mothers with vital check, physical and emotional support and breastfeeding support.
The startup has plans to partner with corporates and government offices to make workplace more mother- baby and breastfeeding friendly. I Love 9 Months is engaged in empowering women through various initiatives by educating, engaging and equipping them through the various products.
