Opening a new chapter for Kerala IT, Government of Kerala signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nissan Motor Co. to set up the Nissan Digital Hub at Technocity in Thiruvananthapuram on June 29. The facility will be the nerve centre of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi strategic partnership’s research in electric and automated vehicles.

Close on the heels of this major achievement, the top brass of EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) led by Srinivasa Rao, Global Vice Chair met Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Chief Minister and reiterated interest in setting up their Global Managed Services Centre in Thiruvananthapuram. The Government has assured them all support. EY currently has around 5000 employees in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, operating mainly on Client Support and Enablement Services.

Under the guidance of IT Secretary M Sivasankar IAS, EY Global management team held discussions with Kerala IT team and decided to start their operations for new vertical Global Management Services in Thiruvananthapuram. GoK also expressed their willingness to associate with EY in creating a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on emerging technologies like Blockchain, Cyber Security and Skill Development initiatives.

While on this, let me congratulate UST Global for becoming the first ‘unicorn’ from Kerala by securing an investment of Rs. 1700 crore ($250 mn) from Singapore’s Temasek Holdings. In yet another significant development, Triassic Solutions, a Technopark-based software and solutions company, has announced a partnership with California-based consumer experience startup TagRail Inc. for automotive retailing.

Also, join me in welcoming two companies that commenced operations at Cyberpark Kozhikode recently – IPIX Technologies, the IT arm of renowned business advisory firm Morison Menon Group and Yarddiant Weblounge Pvt. Ltd., a complete web development company with clients across the world.

I am sure these investments will further validate our State’s unique advantages like location, infrastructure, talent pool and quality of life, thereby enriching the IT ecosystem in Kerala. Let ‘Kerala IT’ be a movement. Let’s stand together and I believe it will rise above and beyond, making a mark on the global IT landscape.
