I am happy to inform you all that the Technocity campus has become the first in the State to get a digitized sub-station. The ‘main receiving sub-station’ with a capacity of 40MVA (mega volt amp) set up by the Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd. uses fibre optic cables to transmit digital signals to the control room.

The use of digital technology will help do away with manual labour, including meter reading. The works pertaining to water supply and construction of roads have also entered the final phase.

In another development, M Sivasankar IAS, Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT and I met Rajesh Gopinathan, CEO, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and discussed about the company’s developmental plans on the land allocated to it at Technocity. The company had to slowdown its plans to set up its Global Learning Academy owing to revolutionary changes that happened in the business ecosystem across the globe. However, Government of Kerala’s timely shift to position the capital as a Knowledge City playing host to futuristic technologies is yielding results. We are being told that TCS has engaged a high-level delegation led by the company’s CTO to do a dipstick assessment of the potential for this strategic investment.

And, of course, adding further momentum to the growth of Kerala’s IT ecosystem, Sweden-based Truecaller acquired Chillr, a homegrown payments app, to strengthen its payments services. As rightly mentioned by Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Chief Minister, in his congratulatory note to Alan Mamedi, the CEO and Co-founder of Truecaller, the acquisition is a testimony to the talent ecosystem and capability of graduates from Kerala. “It gives us much confidence that the investments the State has made in various human capital development initiatives in the technology sector are yielding good results,” the Chief Minister observed.

Finally, I salute Tejus, the blood donors’ forum at Technopark, for organising a mega blood donation camp on World Blood Donor Day at the campus with the support of Terumo Penpol and Federation of Indian Blood Donors Organizations (FIBDO).

I am proud to be a donor alongside K Vasuki IAS, District Collector. Blood connects us all!
