Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while inaugurating ‘Sahya’ – the first IT building at Cyberpark Kozhikode – a year ago, outlined the Government’s vision of developing it as a major IT hub catering to the northern part of Kerala. The growth of Cyberpark looks very encouraging. With nine companies fully operational, the Park now employs around 260 IT professionals. Five more companies are in the process of setting up offices and the total employee strength will cross the 400-mark within one month. I am sure this overwhelming response from the IT companies underlines Kozhikode’s potential to grow by leaps and bounds.

Another noticeable sign is the increase in number of IT-related events being organised in north Kerala of late. This is the result of the State Government’s concerted efforts to promote the destination and improve infrastructure facilities. For the first time Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) organised a meeting of Kerala’s hardware community in Kasargod. The country’s first-ever co-operative hackathon, ‘Coopathon’, was hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK) with the support of UL Cyber Park. All these will not only accelerate the growth of Cyberpark but also help the startup ecosystem of the region to evolve faster.

Coming to Infopark and Technopark, I am happy to inform you that Bilagos Software and Infoblox Technical Support & Software Development recently opened new offices in Technopark. Opentrends Technologies, a fast-growing IT company with services in mobile, web & portals, IoT, Chatbots & AI, Blockchain and Data Insights, has opened its second office at Infopark’s satellite campus in Koratty. Still, a lot of companies are in the queue for more office space. The Government is taking adequate steps to meet the increasing demand for IT office space.

Lastly, congrats to Inntot Technologies, based out of Infopark Kochi, which has won three major awards: Best Service Startup and Top 10 Promising Startup at Industrial Innovation Awards of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII); Government of Telangana and Indywood Award for Innovative Tech Startup of the Year; and Best Young Entrepreneur Award of Kerala Finance Corporation.
