Kochi : ‘I LOVE 9 MONTHS’ – a maternity wellness organisation founded by three Malayali women entrepreneurs – was awarded the first prize in the Indo-Israel Innovation Challenge in Healthcare Category 1 (Solutions for real-time health monitoring, home care, remote care, periodic counselling and advice on health management for NCDs (Non-Communicable Diseases). The event attended by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, and Benjamin Netanyahu, his Israeli counterpart, was held at Ahmedabad. The awardees get an opportunity to work on proof of concept, will funding support and mentoring and meet with industry in India and Israel.

Anjali Raj, COO and co-founder of I LOVE 9 MONTHS, said that Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) believed in their concept and provided seed fund assistance of Rs.25 lakh at a very early stage. Fifty per cent of I LOVE 9 MONTHS App downloads are from Kerala.

I LOVE 9 MONTHS has developed an m-health platform (App) through which maternity and antenatal wellness services of international standards, once a niche segment, are now available to millions of women irrespective of their socio-economic status and geographical barriers. The services are in line with UNICEF’s ‘priority interventions’ during the critical window between pre-conception to post pregnancy. The App is easily accessible and affordable and has a host of user benefits like 4,000+ plus minutes of pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post pregnancy exercise videos, antenatal class videos and blogs/tips/articles. Personalised question & answer forum and 10 free maternal and infant health trackers (immunization, infant development, fetal growth etc.) aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes are included.

I LOVE 9 MONTHS is also pioneering trained and certified birth companion in India, which is in line with the decision of Union Health Ministry to allow “birth companions” during deliveries as one of the first initiatives towards reducing Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).

The I LOVE 9 MONTHS App also acts as an affordable and localised medium through which the government can monitor real time data which can be used for policy development on health care initiatives.

Ganga Raj, Co-founder and Director Wellness, says I LOVE 9 MONTHS aims to achieve its goal of large-scale collective change in the area of maternal wellness through alliance with government, private and public hospitals, corporates, NGOs, self-help groups and other medical personnel.
